In Summer 2018 I joined the Tayos creative expedition to document the travel and exploration to the Cueva de los Tayos in Ecuador’s south eastern Amazon rainforest. Over three weeks, and three days underground, I photographed and explored the unique geology and ecology of the caves as well as the warm and colouful culture of Ecuador in passing.

The materials and insights that were gathered on this exploration form the basis of a multi-disciplinary project focused on raising awareness of the need for protection of this fragile landscape, supporting the bid to recognize Cueva de los Tayos as a UNESCO World Heritage site and exploring the role natural environments can play in self-reflection and inner exploration.
